Cottonwood does not allow pets inside the facility area, as other guests may have allergies or aversions to animals.

The costs not covered in the monthly room and board are the following:

• Personal phone service
• Medications
• Field trip expenses
• Home health care
• Occupational, physical or speech therapy
• Portable or personal oxygen units
• Significant medical products or equipment
• Toiletry items, such as soap, toothpaste, etc.
• Beauty salon permanents, haircuts and coloring

Medicare may cover the cost of home health care, medications, therapy and pharmaceutical equipment. Included in the monthly room and board charges are a weekly shampoo and set for women and a monthly haircut for men.

Cottonwood Estates is a Medicaid provider and participates in the Personal Care Program.

Although we are a small and homelike facility, Cottonwood’s trained staff allows all of our guests to benefit from personalized service and genuine relationships. Our compassionate nursing staff are all certified and have years of experience. We also have Licensed professional nurses on site. Every member of our staff must undergo a criminal background check prior to hiring, as well as a check to ensure that their certifications or professional licenses are legitimate and in good standing with the appropriate organzations.

Cottonwood allows families and friends to visit residents 24/7. Socialization is an important part of our home and we would never discourage anyone from visiting their loved ones.

Independent and assisted living is designed for anyone over the age of 55 who still has the ability to maintain some independence and their activities of daily living but can also benefit from assistance. Support is always available and provided and activities and amenities are a regular part of daily life. Nursing homes are primarily for residents who have a much higher level of physical, emotional and medicinal needs.

Considering assisted living options is no easy task, but it should be an integral part of your decision process. The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA), the largest national association dedicated to senior living communities, states that these major life decisions should be made after thorough research into your facility of choice. Independence, respect, privacy, religious freedom, the right to voice grievances when they arise, and attentive and personal care for residents should be essential factors that you consider. At Cottonwood, these attributes are provided simply because we genuinely care about residents and employ staff members who truly enjoy what they do for a living.
